As a life-long learner, Carol has enjoyed sharing what she has learned and experienced with others, in both formal and informal settings, for over 40 years.

With an engineering degree, she is comfortable "talking tech" with other technical professionals; however, one of her specialties is communicating technical information with non-technical audiences, too.

Her teaching focus goes beyond the traditional STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Math) umbrella, as she seamlessly integrates Reading and the Arts, as well, for engaging STREAM learning.

In her work as the Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper, Carol had a furry, four white paw teaching assistant, "Little Keeper Susquehanna (Sussey)," a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever that not only served as the Riverkeeper mascot but also was one of a limited number of canines in the world trained in nose-work to detect pollution within the watershed.

During Carol's tenure as Riverkeeper, she created an online floating classroom program for River Rats of all ages onboard the Hiawatha Paddlewheel Riverboat, docked in Williamsport (PA) on the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. Today, that educational program continues to invite residents and visitors to the Susquehanna Valley to explore river science concepts through hands-on, experiential citizen scientist programming spearheaded by the Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper program.

Carol was contracted by ArtsEdge, the educational programming arm of The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, to develop STEM/STEAM/STREAM programs for young learners. Some of her lesson plans have focused on kinetic movement in art, the integration of poetry and dance, music in the natural world, and landform formation and its parallel with the human body.

Complementing her work with ArtsEdge, Carol has also served as an artist-in-residence at schools and libraries, as well as presenting children's library programs, many based on her own books, as part of national summer reading programs.

In addition to teaching virtually through Cengage Learning's global education consortium of thousands of colleges and universities for over ten years, Carol has taught both credit and continuing education programs at local institutes of higher education. Additionally, she has served as a guest lecturer. These institutes of higher education include, but are not limited to, The State University of New York, Penn State University, Bucknell University, and Susquehanna University. As Riverkeeper, she was an active participant in the Susquehanna River Heartland Coalition for Environmental Studies, where she worked with students in internship and special project programs.

Throughout Carol's career, she has served as an instructor in professional development/continuing education programs for professionally licensed engineers, architects, land surveyors, landscape architects, and water and wastewater operators and managers, in which she both designed and delivered specialty programming. She has presented at numerous conferences, trade shows, and corporate events.
