Like many young professionals fresh out of college, Carol's career did not go according to plan, but she now considers her unexpected and unanticipated detours and diversions to have been the most rewarding parts of her working-life journey, as they opened doors and presented opportunities she may not have considered otherwise.
Throughout her career, one thing has remained consistent, however. Carol has been drawn to "the new": new businesses, new products, new services, new territories, new direction, and, most importantly, new ways of thinking.
She brings her vast experience to others through her consulting work, where she is available for select and limited engagements in the areas of:
- Special Projects
- Interim Positions (contracted)
- Compensated Board Positions

Focus Areas
Strategic Business Planning
After preparing hundreds of business plans as an entrepreneurial consultant, Carol shared her knowledge and expertise through the development and facilitation of "Creating a Successful Business Plan" for Cengage Learning, where she guided thousands of new and growing entrepreneurs around the world for over ten years.
She has fond memories of working with individuals from all corners of the globe, including developing countries and the Antarctic Ice Project. Today, as she travels, it brings her great joy to witness business signage of thriving business enterprises she once touched, if only briefly in a virtual classroom.
Carol has employed these same strategic business planning skills in launching several successful businesses of her own.
Nonprofit Fiscal Sustainability
As the former founding Executive Director of a new nonprofit organization, Carol transferred her business planning skills from the for-profit world to the non-profit world, applying innovative fiscal management ideas that utilize mission-aligned products and services to generate income.
While many non-profit organizations rely heavily on grants and fundraising activities to support their organizations, Carol helps nonprofit leaders look beyond the traditional nonprofit income stream to explore new methods to financially support their life-changing work.
Consultative Selling
From Carol's first post-college position as a Sales Engineer, she has relied heavily on consultative selling skills for not only her success but also that of the companies she represented.
Carol believes that sales success comes from forming partnerships with her clients, engaging them in the discovery process together to uncover win-win solutions, one in which the client can proudly take ownership.
Throughout her career, she has used these skills in launching new products, establishing new territories, rebranding companies and services, and growing small opportunities exponentially into unprecedented sales.
Educational Programming
Partnering with organizations that have information to share, Carol merges her passion for education with business through strategic outreach, helping to create physical products and develop associated community programming.
One example of her educational programming outreach was the development of the TREK (Traveling through the Region with Exploration Kits) program for the Johnstown (NY) Public Library/Mohawk Valley Library Association, where she designed six backpacks to represent various ecosystems found within the Adirondack Mountain Foothills and Mohawk River Valley. Families could borrow these backpacks filled with representative books, nature guides, and hands-on experiential tools, complete with a map and guide specific for exploring the designated natural environment.
Carol welcomes your inquiries about how she may be able to help your business or organization.
